On October 6th, we will join Shirley’s Kitchen Cabinet, The Greater Kansas City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and 30 other black women led civic and social organizations to present The Heartland Legislative Forum! 

This is the first-of-its-kind gathering specifically focused on black women voters in Kansas and Missouri. We’re putting you face-to-face with the candidates who want to represent us locally and in Washington, D.C. to talk about the issues that affect our communities. 

The Jackson County Bar Association, Asian American Bar and Hispanic American Bar is hosting a mayoral debate/ town-hall for the Kansas City community. This is an opportunity for residents to ask questions, posed by a moderator, to hear the ideas and plans each candidate has for Kansas City. We are holding the town-hall/debate at UMKC the first week of October on the 6th. Please bring your questions on a piece of paper or email them to cecilia@nubylaw.com

The Judge Kit Carson Roque, Jr. Scholarship Event is an annual scholarship banquet given by JCBA in honor of the late judge, Kit Carson Roque, Jr., an African-American graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. The Jackson County Bar Association, and their annual scholarship banquet is dedicated to helping minority students achieve their legal aspirations.


Royce “Sauce” Handy wears his influences and inspiration like pins on the outside of his well-worn jean jacket. The KCK-born hip hop entrepreneur embraces his identity: A collector of Goosebumps books. A student of history. A fan of 1990s family sitcoms. And he’s unapologetically black.
