The end of the African American Artists Collective (AAAC) Charlotte Street Residency at the Capsule. Throughout the month of December 2018, over 16 artists of color have produced, exhibited, performed, taught, hosted and collaborated on various projects/workshops from multiple disciplines: photography, film, craft, dance, music, digital, paint, poetry, spoken word, hair design, fashion design, jewelry design, fabric art, one-of-a-kind dolls and sculpture. Stop by and celebrate the close of a great month-long project. Artists will have art for sale.

Clusterfunk is the amalgamation of all things funny! We invite some of the best improvisers in Kansas City to show off what they’re working on. See brand-new formats that push the envelope of what Improv is and what it can be. See different groups you’ve never seen on stage in KC before. In the end, some of our company members play with a handful of independent improvisers in Kansas City to create a true CLUSTERFUNK!
Every Friday & Saturday night at 10PM, we will be hosting "In HOUSE We Trust" where we will host live performances focused on house music and creating a unique atmosphere to match.
Each artist will bring their own style, themes, and more! Every night will be something new, but always fresh and always a good time.

Perfect for high school and adult designers looking to elevate their garment-making skills to a more professional level. Previous sewing machine and garment construction experience are essential.
Sewing machines (industrial machines, sergers, coverstitch, and blindstitch) will be provided; students must provide their own sewing kit and fabric for sewing projects. A shopping list will be provided.

Start the Arts is hosting our first quarterly event free to the community. There will be spoken word, music, live painting, culinary art, an interactive art room for children and more. Our goal is to utilize art to address the violence in the greater Kansas City community.

Taking a short break from their rigorous schedule with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, three AAADT dancers bring their talent to KC to introduce Alvin Ailey’s vision and legacy to students, supporters and community members.
Join TFA KC on January 10th to honor the truly Tenacious as Teach For America celebrates 10 years strong in Kansas City. In the last 10 years, we've welcomed 1000 tenacious leaders who have served over 150,000 pre-k through 12th grade students in low-income classrooms.
We are excited to welcome 2007 TFA alum DeRay McKesson as the Keynote Speaker at our 10th Anniversary Celebration! DeRay is a powerful influencer in the realms of innovation, equity, social justice, and civil rights.
The event will also feature performances by Quixotic, Kansas City’s innovative performance art collective known for its aerialists, Kansas City Improv and The V.I.P. Movement (Violence I Prevent).
