Come and join us for an awesome night of music and poetry focused on the upliftment of Black fathers. There will also be a wonderful silent auction. This is an effort to raise funds for the Father's Day Bail Out/Keep Out and Juneteenth celebration here in Kansas City. 

Come to Studio 54oo for the Pretty Girls Trap & Paint party. Located at 5504-5506 Troost, painting will led by Studio 54oo. This party will features a live DJ, trap music, and time for creative paint play! Photographer on site for individual and group shots.

Boulevardia: It’s our own country within a country – that just happens to be in Kansas City. You won’t need a passport, but prepare to be transported. Boulevardia is a unique beer, food and music festival. A very happy happening. A whole lotta hubbub. A delightful departure from the everyday. And it’s all going down in KC’s Stockyards District from June 15-16.

For All The World To See is a nationally touring exhibition from NEH on the Road that examines the role that visual culture played in shaping and transforming the struggle for racial equality in America from the late 1940’s to the mid 1970’s. FATWTS will be coming to the Black Archives of Mid-America on Saturday, June 16th. This compelling exhibition is free and open to the public through August 11th.
Inspired by the popular series, Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr., Kansas City PBS has partnered with the Midwest Genealogy Center to offer a resourceful opportunity to explore your unknown family lineage. Resources for independent exploration at home and at the Midwest Genealogy Center will be defined in four sessions to help you start or continue the research you’ll rely on to extend your family tree.

Farewell to our friend and local legend Jenee Osterheldt, who has been a fixture in the KC Star for the last 16 years. Through her columns, commentaries, and mentorship of others on staff, she has given voice to folks of color as well as a more diverse KC than the city's biggest paper has traditionally represented. Though we'll miss her, we know Boston has big things planned for her and she's gonna kill it out east.
