Sip, paint, and create memorable fun art with us on April 28th, 2018! We invite you to unleash your inner artist at one of our two classes. Our studio is dedicated to bringing art to life through the creative process. The instructor will teach each class with a fun theory for any beginner or professional to have a good time. Your ticket purchase will include canvas, complimentary drinks, and hors d'oeuvres.
An all-star ensemble comprising eight of the finest performer/composers at work in jazz today, the SFJAZZ Collective’s mission each year is to perform fresh arrangements of works by a modern master and newly commissioned pieces by each Collective member. Through this pioneering approach, simultaneously honoring music’s greatest figures while championing jazz’s up-to-the-minute directions, the Collective embodies SFJAZZ’s commitment to jazz as a living ever-relevant art form.  In 2017-2018, they pay tribute to trumpeter, composer and innovator Miles Davis.  More than any other figure, Davis changed the sound of jazz throughout his career.

The Library kicks off a new series with The Kansas City Star to discuss the news and issues that matter to Kansas Citians. In the first of the series, Star reporters Joyce Smith, Aaron Randle and Steve Vockrodt join members of the public for a conversation about issues affecting the Westport area, such as safety, nightlife and development. Coffee and pastries provided. RSVP is required as space is limited.
This workshop centers on writing as a basic yet strong form of communication and discovery. Participants will explore how their collective roles and life experiences might contribute to constructive community outreach and conversation. Through tough questions, writing exercises and active listening, participants will learn to STAND on their story.
