NASTY FOLK is a one-day pop up sale and group art exhibition on Jan 21st 2018, which serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists, and all other people who identify with being Nasty Folk. It is also a fundraiser to support the ACLU, an organization that fights for individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. 100% of the profits of this event will go directly to the ACLU.

From 1999 to 2016, records show, Jackson County logged nearly 174,000 evictions – an average of about 42 per business day. Alarmingly, the leading predictor was race. Analysis by activist Tara Raghuveer revealed a disproportionate impact on African-Americans.

Hosted by Kansas City Public Library. Co-presented by KCPT-Kansas City PBS and the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation’s Black Community Fund. The event is the first in a series focusing on eviction and other housing issues in Kansas City.
