The Marcus Lewis Big Band is joining forces with Kansas City emcees Kemet The Phantom & Kadesh Flow to combine big band (full jazz ensemble) with hip-hop. Arranger and Trombonist Marcus Lewis will present big band arrangements of Kemet and Kadesh's original material, as well as full jazz band versions of songs such as Kendrick Lamar's "Alright" and Bruno Mars' "24K Magic".

WaterFire, held each year along the banks of Brush Creek by the Country Club Plaza, will be on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
WaterFire has many components, however the focal point is the installation of braziers in Brush Creek. The fragrance of aromatic wood smoke and flickering firelight of each brazier create a unique ambiance unlike anything else in Kansas City.
Live vocals, dance and acrobatics will be performed by Quixotic, StoneLion Puppet Theatre, Rhythmic Flames, Kansas City Drum Tribe, Trio Forte and renowned operatic tenor Ben Gulley. In addition to the entertainment, Seasons 52, Zocalo Mexican Tequileria, Cooper's Hawk and The Capital Grille will have pop-up food and drink stands.
