We are excited to bring Uncorked Wine Festivals back to Kansas City! Join us for the second annual Uncorked: KC Champagne and WIne Festival on March 11th at Union Station. In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will host “ Black Women In Sports” featuring a discussion with honored guest Claire Smith and moderator Dr. Rebecca Davis, Univeristiy of Missouri-Kansas City.
Smith will discuss her over 30 year career as an award winning sports journalist and editor. She was recently selected as the 2017 Spink Award winner by the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWA), for “meritorious contributions to baseball writing.” She is the first female writer so honored for this prestigious award. The National Baseball Hall of Fame describes Smith as “a pioneer within the baseball community as one of the first women to cover a major league baseball beat extensively and as an influential voice among African-American writers.”
Kick off March basketball by participating in Kansas City’s Big 12 Run. The course begins and ends in the heart of downtown Kansas City. With two distances to choose from, a 12K or 5K, runners of all experience levels are encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event. Strollers are welcome for the 5K race. Everyone that crosses the finish line for either distance will receive a finisher’s medal.
